A diet low in iron can lead to anemia, a condition that can make your child pale, irritable and lacking in energy. Anemia is often seen in toddlers who drink too much milk (more than 3 glasses a day) which can make them less interested in iron-rich foods such as red meat, beans and peas, and fortified breads.
