Swimmer's ear is an infection of the outer ear and ear canal that is caused by prolonged exposure to water. If you think your child has swimmers ear it is important to contact your pediatrician about treatment. There are ways to help prevent swimmer's ear if you know your child will be spending long periods of time at the pool or beach.
