Legislation on sports concussions has brought child injury management into the spotlight. To lower the number of injuries associated with poorly treated concussions, the AAP urges parents and coaches to take proactive measures to recognize and manage a potentially life-threatening injury.
Philipp Aldana, MD, FAANS, FAAP, a member of the executive committee of the AAP Section on Neurological Surgery, comes on the Healthy Children Radio show to discuss the proper procedure for checking a child's sports injury and how to decide when it's safe for a child to return to play.
