National Immunization Awareness Month

August is National Immunization Awareness Month. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has resources to highlight the importance of keeping all members of the family up-to-date on recommended immunizations.

During this month, the AAP is highlighting:

  • Immunization schedules for infants and children
  • The importance of "cocooning" (vaccinating adults who are around an infant) to prevent illnesses such as pertussis
  • The AAP's global partnerships and campaigns to bring lifesaving vaccines to children in the developing world
