When to Use Antibiotics (Audio)
When a child has a cold or virus, parents may ask for antibiotics, believing it will shorten their illness. Antibiotics are not always the answer. If they are overused, some strains of viruses become resistant to the particular antibiotic. Use them only when your pediatrician believes they are truly needed.
