Question

When visitors come to my home, they ask if they can smoke in another room. What should I tell them?

Answer

​Children’s homes should be completely smoke-free. Even if smokers smoke in a separate room, smoke-filled air is spread throughout the home, exposing everyone in the house to secondhand smoke. Visitors to your home should honor your request not to smoke.

If they cannot do this, insist that they smoke outside, away from open doors and windows. Keep in mind that residual smoke on their clothing and their belongings may release toxins into your home.
