Question
When can my baby start eating solid foods?
Answer
The AAP recommends breastfeeding as the sole source of nutrition for your baby for about 6 months. When you add solid foods to your baby’s diet at about 6 months, continue breastfeeding until at least 12 months. Before this age instead of swallowing the food, babies push their tongues against the spoon of the food. Energy needs of babies also begin to increase around this age, making this a good time to introduce solids.
