Developmental Disabilities

Only when a baby or preschooler lags far behind, or fails altogether to reach the developmental milestones, or loses a previously acquired skill, is there reason to suspect a mental or physical problem serious enough to be considered a developmental disability.

Early Intervention (EI)

All states have an EI program for infants and toddlers with disabilities. The federally funded program was designed to help children younger than 3 years learn important developmental skills. The program also teaches families the skills they need to best work with their child. Exactly how the program is run varies from state to state.
