Where We Stand: Alcohol During Pregnancy

Drinking alcohol during pregnancy is one of the leading preventable causes of birth defects, intellectual disabilities, and other developmental disorders in newborns.

There is no known safe amount of alcohol consumption during pregnancy.

For that reason, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that women who are pregnant, or who are planning to become pregnant, abstain from drinking alcoholic beverages of any kind.
