In its policy statement, "Reception and Assessment of Immigrant Children and Families Seeking U.S. Humanitarian Protection: Upholding the Best Interest of the Child," the AAP calls for a humanitarian response and child-centered approaches that prioritize timely health care, emotional support, family relationships and safe reception practices for immigrant children and families.
